As someone that cares about the environment, I decided to base my senior design project on unsustainable palm oil harvesting and the effects it is having on the environment. My goal in this project is to bring awareness to the issue by designing three propaganda style images that tell a narrative on the issue without the use of typography. Indonesia and Malaysia supply about 85% of the worlds palm oil exports and this is taking a toll on the environment in that region, as a result the orangutan population is paying the price. My hopes in this project is that the viewers will recognize how serious this issue is and they will feel encouraged to make more informed choices when purchasing packaged products while considering alternatives if possible.
